CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGIES AND MATERIALS
This blog contains indebt information regarding the material that will be used in construction. It also contains information on how the recreational centre will be sustained since it will be developed in a coastal region
The basic building materials used in the building will be Portland cement, aluminum, concrete, cypress wood, clay tile, solar control glass, and low e coating.
Paint with a lesser percentage of Volatile Organic Compounds. Using paint with a low composition in VOC reduces the number of chemicals and toxic compounds that evaporate into the atmosphere. These compounds can also evaporate indoors and if paint high in VOC is used this leads to indoor air quality problems. However, when more water-based paints are utilized, such problems will be avoided
Coastal projects are one of the most difficult projects to take up as an architect. This is because of issues such as the volatility of the soil and the high salt content in the sea that can rust and easily corrode buildings. Some other problems that are coupled with the building by the coast are;
- Constant Humidity
- Wind Driven Rain
- Fluctuating Tides
- Occasional Floods
BUILDING NEAR COASTAL REGIONS CAN BE A TUSSLE, HOWEVER,
OUTLINED METHODS IN WHICH THESE PROBLEMS CAN BE TACKLED
ARE LISTED BELOW
i. Effective and state-of-the-art water drainage system
ii. Sliding Window System
iii. Walls to fight waves
iv Planting of Mangroves
v. Inbuilt Tsunami protection in walls
vi. Pier Foundation System
