INITIAL RESEARCH- FOUNDATION LOUIS VUITTON BUILDING

                                          INITIAL RESEARCH INSPIRATION

When I  began my research process regarding this task I was in search of something sophisticated and authentic that stands out from the rest.

The Foundation Louis Vuitton Building was designed by Frank Gehry and was completed in 2014. According to Mafi (2019), constructing such a large range of horizontal buildings in Paris will be very difficult due to overcrowding. However, with Frank Gehry's expertise, he was able to make this a reality due to accurate measurements, surveying and design.

The building has a vessel-shaped delicate glass structure adjacent to the grass plains of the Paris' Bois de Boulogne.

Frank Gehry received his inspiration from French and British glass buildings set in the 19th century. Therefore, after receiving the opportunity to construct a site-gratifying building in Paris' Bois de Boulogne Gehry set to work and produced a masterpiece that brings out the beauty of the large park as well as making the building an independent eye-catcher.

The building has glass that is curved to produce 12 sails to the 19000 panels of reinforced concrete. The intertwining of the building structure produced unique curves that also go against the usual laws of modern-day architecture.

The building has a combination of both curved and angular architecture to produce a sophisticated outlook.

I like this structure because it has a different style of Architecture compared to that of its surroundings. Hence, it is extremely noticeable which on its own is a form of marketing for the business as it will attract people. The Louis Vuitton structure has two floors but due to the enormous elements and shapes,
the building is relatively immense.

I selected this building as the basis of my first research because it has a complicated as well as angular and curved exterior which drew me to it. As a future Architect designs like this stand out amongst the rest for me and I hope in the near future I will be designing more visually appealing structures.
