FIRST THOUGHT ON PROJECT THEMES

                                                        PROJECT THEME

For the second term, there are three main themes to be chosen from. These are primitivism, pop art and industrialism.

PRIMITIVISM

Primitivism is basically the creation of art work which takes it routes from pre-historic, ancient relics and cultures of the past. Primitive art is a form of type machine artists use to relive past centuries through designing art works and structures with a natural exterior and interior that is in tune with the environment as well as nature. However, primitivism has some form of stereotype around it. People in continents such as Africa, Australia and South America were seen to be connected to the golden age during the early stages of mankind. Hence, were seen as less socially conforming and primtive beings from unruly civilizations. Primitive architecture is also a sustainable way of building due to the natural resources which will be utilized in this building scheme. This would be a good option for me because, I will not resort to the use of synthetic products in the construction of my structures.

INDUSTRIALISM

Industrial architecture is a theme that utilizes a minimalistic style to produce a simple ennd result. This is done by using polished surfaces, idustrial materials such as glass, wood and metals which are sustainable as well as flat roofing which does not have a complicated outlook. The industrial revolution that began in Great Britian from the late 1700s to the early 1800s played a role in the introduction of industrial Architecture into the system. Industrialism is also economically friendly this is because most buildings use natural light by installing grid windows, floor to ceiling windows as well as skylight. This can make use of sunlight during the day to avoid the unecessary wastage of energy during the day. Industrial architecture is used inn building homes around Central Business Districts, factories , office spaces as well as industries.

POP ART

Pop Art originated in the 1950s amongst the British and American society. Pop art is a combination of elements which include current cultural settings, mixed media and collages irony and satire as well as bright colours. Pop Art Architecture incorporates some of these elements and also incorporates off the scale symbolism with regards to the structures. Architects who incorporate pop art into their structure themes include irregular building patterns and designs as well as a combination of illustrated patterns, shapes as well as colours which convey a meaning or have a metaphor behind it. Pop Art can either be sustainable or unsustainable. This is because it depends on the materials the designer or Architect uses in his or her project. In order to use sustainable material recycled products can be used as well as natural materials such as clay , stones, aluminm and steel which can be transformed into other forms to achieve a finished product.

After analyzing and reviewing the three major themes, I chose the pop art theme.
