PLANNING TOWARDS ART PORTFOLIO ONE PROJECT
Week 7 has begun and this week, I will begin the 3d planning phase of my project. This involves the tools and materials to be used, the time scale that will be needed for me to complete my project as well as how this will be presented in my portfolio.
My project is an art gallery which has a contemporary theme which is slightly infused with ultra-modern architecture hence, beginning the development stage will ensure that I achieve a high-quality end product
First and foremost, the materials I decided to use were clear acrylic, coloured acetate, mountboard, and wood for the platform, as well as store-bought plants for the environment.
3D MODEL MAKING WORKSHOP
To cut out precise pieces of acrylic for the gallery windows, I had to make accurate drawings in Adobe Illustrator. I drew the acrylic pieces according to a 1:50 scale
Afterwards, I had to save this document to a pen drive to use the 3D cutting machine. When this was done I had to carry out the required procedures on the 3D cutting machines for the 3D
cutting machine to recognize my drawings. I then placed a sheet of acrylic in the machine assisted by the lab technician. It took approximately 21 minutes for the laser in the 3D cutter to complete the cutting process.

After this process was done, I assembled all the pieces and went back to the Art Factory to begin the assembling process.
After doing this I visited the wood workshop to cut out a 50cm by 50cm piece of wood for the platform of the building. The challenging aspect of this segment in my project was the use of Adobe Illustrator which I am not proficient in. But with several tries, I grasped basic concepts involving using the tools
MAIN DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
At this point, I began by cutting out pieces of mount board for the ground floor with a ruler, cutting board as well a a cutting knife. I did not find it challenging to use the mountboard as I used it to make my prototype as well as a different project in the 2D 3D module.
I then began to assemble the pieces of mount board and Acrylic using adhesive.
At this stage I was almost done with all three floors, The only aspect left was to add the colourful acetate as well as the base of the Gallery.
The process of adding acetate was quite tricky because any small mistake can easily rip it or destroy the surface so I had to be extra careful to prevent damage to the pieces. I also bonded the acetate to the mount board using adhesive glue.
To create a grass-filled limestone pavement I printed copyright-free images of pavements and glued them to the surface of the wood platform.
To complete the green space, I used fake trees and grass I bought from Amazon. I also used real stones I picked to recreate a natural environment. This process was quite tricky, especially the aspect of pouring the grass onto the wooden platform. using PVA glue. But I still managed to pull through and was successful.
Finally. I completed the 3D model of Talent Magnifique Art Gallery. To reflect on the entire building process was physically draining because I did not have machines aiding me for the majority of the process. However, with hard work and dedication, I completed it and it came out splendidly.
In consecutive projects, I will try my best to avoid putting too much glue on the clear acrylic. To challenge myself, in the project next term, I will try using more technical materials such as wood and metal to build my expertise in model-making.
