       MATERIALS AND SUSTAINABILITY As part of my project for this term, I am required to conduct research on materials that will be used to construct the Apartment blocks and surroundings.   TOUGHENED GLASS- TEMPERED GLASS Toughened glass is a kind of safety glass that has been through a controlled thermal process which maximises its overall potency compared to regular annealed glass( Tinoso, 2024).  Toughened will be the best option for the windows, doors and terrace this is because it has a high resistance. This social housing is for families in case where children are engaging in rough play and fall on the doors exerting high pressure and force the glass will not easily break.  In the case where the glass breaks, according to Tinoso( 2024) it shatters into tiny blunt pieces which reduces the chance of cuts and wounds. SITE PLAN ANALYSIS

                  PROJECT SITE PLAN A site plan is a bird's eye view sketch of a region or area. In order to enhance the site plan, an analysis also has to be made of the climate, transport and accessibility in the town or region.  The map above illustrates the precise location of the Golden Horizon Apartments. It is located in Cromwell, Connecticut directly opposite the St Elizabeth Seton Church. The area of the site is 79,119.77 m² and the total perimeter is 1,138.3 m. The site consists of four main apartment blocks, underground parking, ground-level parking, playground as well as an outdoor lounge not forgetting the garden. The image above is of vegetation that has currently been burnt down. However, in my site plan, I included new layouts of plants that will be cultivated to restore nature's balance. FURTHER RESEARCH-UNDERGROUND PARKING

    UNDERGROUND PARKING Golden Horizon Apartments will accommodate families hence there is a need for a large parking space. On the ground floor level, smaller parking spaces will be made available but this cannot accommodate all residents hence the need for underground parking with a large holding capacity. This post will consist of four parking spaces around the world. I decided on three because most parking spaces do not contain all the features needed for a highly efficient parking space. Updating website-Initial updates

             INITIAL WEBSITE UPDATES  As part of my assessment this term, I am required to present a portfolio which will be displayed on my Wix Website. Therefore I have to make some changes to my website. In this blog, I will elaborate on the changes I made which are adding an additional page, button and place holder to my portfolio.  In order to add a cover page to my portfolio I needed to extend the portfolio cover page section. I did this by dragging on the purple double-sided arrow and dragging it down.  Afterwards, I selected the image button on the left side of the screen. I do not have a finished cover image as it is still in the works so I will select a placeholder.              I selected the required image and uploaded it onto Wix by clicking on the open button. I selected the image, edited it and placed it on my website.  Afterwards, I needed to add buttons which would link the cover page to the main page. I did this by selecting the button option on the drop-down list of

FLOOR PLAN GROUND FLOOR

                   HORIZON APARTMENTS FLOOR PLAN  A floor plan is a drawing made with accurate scaling used to show room divisions on a specific floor of a building. Horizon Apartments is a four-block Apartment residence hence I made one ground floor sketch of block A because the other three blocks also have the same ground floor design.  For my floor plans , I used the same software as last term which is Arc site. Arc site provides many features and many components which makes creating floor plans flexible. As you can see I drew the main shape of the ground floor which is 30 by 20 metres. The scale I am using for my technical drawings is  1m:100cm. I included the surroundings of block A in order to make it easier to visualize its environment. As you can see in the picture I selected the drawing tool which enabled me to demarcate the sections before I used the wall tool to finalize it. PROTOTYPE

 PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT  To visualize what the end result of our project would look like, We were tasked to create a prototype during our free time. For my prototype the main materials I used was mount board, grey board and adhersive glue for bonding. The main tools I used was a ruler, pencil too mark out parts and a craft knife to accurately cut out the pieces needed.  As you can see from the image above, I assembled the materials I needed and began to cut the mount board out with the craft knife and a ruler .     After cutting out the required pieces I began to glue the ground floor sections together using adhesive glue. I am well accustomed to the usage of this glue hence carrying out the bonding process was not difficult for me.  At the top right corner you can see that I completed the ground floor and the first floor. HABOUR WALK AT LAKE VIEW VILLAGE ONTARIO

 HARBOUR WALK AT LAKE VIEW VILLAGE Harbour Walk in Mississauga is a project still in the works and is set to be completed by 2028. The Luxury condos will be a minor aspect of the Lake View community.  Lake View Village will be a waterside community offering residents with day to amenities such as shopping centres, parks, and educational facilities amongst others ( Condoy, 2024).  AERIAL VIEW OF LAKE VIEW VILLAGE HARBOUR WALK CONDOS Harbour Walk is a 19-storey building which features 863 suites of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom spaces (Torontorealtyboutique). TARGET MARKET/DEMOGRAPHICS

 THE HORIZON TARGET AUDIENCE IN NEW CROMWELL                                                     CROMWELL ENTRANCE SIGN- CONNECTICUT  Cromwell is a small town located in the Middlesex county of Connecticut in the United States of America.  Cromwell has a total population of 14,317 people ( City population, 2022). It has a total male population of 6,809 (2020)  and a female population of  7416 ( 2020).  The following charts and data are more specific information I need regarding Cromwell to identify my target market. As you can see on the chart, Cromwell has a youthful population with 59.7% being between the ages of 18-64 (2020).  This is followed by children between the ages of 0-17 years having a percentage of 19.3% ( 2020). Finally, the minority which is the elderly from 65 and above is 21% ( 2020).  The diagrams above are the age distribution graphs of Cromwell (2020). COLOUR THEORY PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

   COLOUR-BASED DEVELOPMENT EXERCISE In week four, we were tasked to develop ideas using colour. This is because, with the use of colour, you can view your initial ideas from varying perspectives, enabling you to shortlist the colour schemes you are most likely to use for your project. For this task, I used four sheets of paper with the printed design I selected. I then used the four colour schemes in the brief which are polychromatic, analogous, complimentary and split complimentary colours.  The first colour scheme I tried was monochromatic. Yes, I made a big mistake when I read the brief. I mixed up polychromatic with monochromatic and ended up with this. A monochromatic colour scheme is varying shades of one colour.  I began by using the lightest shades of green to colour the edges of the glass windows from the apex to the base of the building.
